Perched on Ambukuthi Mala near Ambalavayal, Edakkal Caves are natural rock shelters featuring intriguing pictorial petroglyphs dating back to the Neolithic and Mesolithic eras.
Accessing the caves requires climbing approximately 300 to 400 stone steps along the slopes of Ambukuthi Mala. The final section involves steel stairways leading into the upper split-rock chamber. The interior reveals stone walls carved with stylized human figures, animals, and symbols dating back over 3,000 years.
