Nestled at the foothills of the Banasura hills, Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India and the second largest in Asia, known for its scenic reservoir dotted with tiny forested islands.
Visitors arrive at the lower gate where battery-operated shuttles or an uphill walk lead to the top of the earthen bund. The vista opens to a tranquil sheet of water reflecting the jagged outline of Banasura Peak. Boat rides operate from the jetty, offering exhilarating journeys between the forested islets.
